Researcher, Civil Engineer
Brief info

Dr. Dimitra Malliouri currently works at the Institute of Oceanography, Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, and at the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. She holds a 5-years diploma in Civil Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). During her first academic steps, she received a scholarship provided by State Scholarships Foundation as an undergraduate student. In 2014, she received a M.Sc. Degree from the Interdepartmental Program of Post-graduate Studies in “Water Resources Science and Technology” of NTUA in the stream of “Coastal Zone Management”. Her PhD studies focused on the “Probabilistic Design of Coastal Structures” have been funded by a research funding program entitled “RESEARCH PROJECTS FOR EXCELLENCE IKY/SIEMENS”. Besides, at the academic level she has been a teaching assistant in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of coastal engineering. Her research interests focus on Ocean Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Long-term and Short-term Statistics of Long-crested and Short-crested Waves, Conventional (Deterministic) and Probabilistic Design of Coastal and Port Structures, Physical Modeling, Computer Modeling/Simulation of Wave Propagation from Deep towards Shallow Waters, Spectral Wave Analysis, and Computational Fluid Mechanics. She has been involved in 3 national research programs (as a main member of the research team) and has published/submitted over 10 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences. Outside the academia Dr. Malliouri has been involved as a consultant or project engineer in a variety of port, coastal and hydraulic engineering studies since 2010.
