Dr Anastasios Metallinos received his 5-years diploma in Civil Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace in 2009 and completed his studies as the student with the highest grade in his graduation season. In 2011, he graduated from the Interdepartmental Program of Post-graduate Studies in “Water Resources Science and Technology” of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) having followed the stream on “Coastal Zone Management”. In 2017, he was awarded with his PhD, entitled “Hydrodynamic Conditions in a Submerged Porous Breakwater” from NTUA focused in Maritime Hydraulics & environmental friendly coastal protection works. His PhD studies were funded through scholarship provided by the Special Research Grant Account of the NTUA. At the academic level he has been teaching assistant in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of maritime hydraulics and submarine sea outfalls at the School of Civil Engineering of the NTUA. His research interests focus on computer modeling/simulation of Maritime Hydraulics in coastal engineering, Waves and Sediment Transport, Physical Modeling, Computational Fluid Mechanics, Porous Breakwaters, Port engineering and Harbour Structures. He has been involved in 6 national research projects (one of them as team leader) and he has published over 25 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences. Outside the academia Dr. Metallinos has been involved as consultant or project engineer in a variety of port, coastal and hydraulic engineering studies since 2009 where he has successfully carried out over 35 projects as team member or coordinator.
